Heel Pain
That first-step pain in the morning has a cause, not just a symptom. We map the tension through your arch and calf and treat the source with custom support, shockwave therapy, and a plan that does more than numb it.
A foot is twenty-six bones doing quiet, complicated work every day you're upright. We think that earns more than a five-minute appointment and a shrug.
That belief is the whole practice.
No conveyor belt, no rushing you out the door. Here's the shape of your first appointment.
Before anything else, Dr. Davidson watches how you move and listens to the whole story. Most of the answer lives in how you stand, walk, and where it actually hurts.
You'll leave knowing exactly what's going on, in language that makes sense. No jargon thrown at you, no mystery, no being talked down to.
Treatment is a conversation, not a verdict. We start with the gentlest thing that works and only step it up when your foot genuinely needs more.

Every masterpiece starts with looking closely. Choose the spot that’s bothering you and see how Dr. Davidson reads it, because naming it right is half the cure.
That first-step pain in the morning has a cause, not just a symptom. We map the tension through your arch and calf and treat the source with custom support, shockwave therapy, and a plan that does more than numb it.
A collapsing arch throws everything above it off balance, knees and hips included. We read your gait like the sketch under the paint, then rebuild support from the ground up with orthotics cast to your feet.
Burning, aching, the feeling of walking on a stone...usually overloaded joints in the forefoot. We offload the pressure and calm the area before it changes the way you walk.
A bunion isn't just cosmetic. It's a joint drifting out of line, and it rarely drifts back on its own. We correct the alignment...conservatively when we can, surgically and precisely when we should.
When a toe buckles and won't straighten, it rubs, aches, and only stiffens with time. We loosen it early and, when needed, straighten it for good with a quick, precise procedure.
Numbness, tingling, or a phantom pebble between the toes often means a nerve is pinched and inflamed. We find it, take the pressure off, and quiet it before it learns to shout.
The Achilles is strong until it isn't, and it tends to warn you first. We catch tendonitis early, calm it down, and rebuild the tendon's strength so an ache never becomes a rupture.
An ankle that keeps rolling isn't bad luck, it's unfinished healing. We rebuild the stability the first sprain took away, so you trust your footing again on any surface.
With diabetes, small foot problems can turn serious quietly. We keep a close, regular watch...checking circulation, sensation, and skin...so the little things get caught long before they ever become big ones.
An ingrown nail is a small thing that gets loud fast. We treat it cleanly and comfortably in-office, and for the ones that keep coming back, we fix the edge so it stops returning.
Adult and pediatric foot care at both our Manasquan and Manalapan offices.
A child’s foot isn’t a smaller version of an adult’s. It’s a work in progress. Soft bone, an arch that hasn’t decided yet, a walk that rewrites itself every few months.
Most of what worries parents turns out to be perfectly normal. Some of it doesn’t. Knowing the difference early is most of the job.
So a good deal of what Dr. Davidson does here is tell parents to stop worrying, and mean it. Plenty of small feet simply need to be left alone to finish becoming themselves.
When something does need attention, though, we’d rather find it while the bone is still soft and forgiving. That window closes quietly, and nobody announces it.
Nearly every toddler looks flat-footed, and nearly every one grows out of it. We watch for the arch that never turns up, and for the one that turns up hurting.
Pigeon toes usually straighten themselves out by school age. We’ll tell you plainly whether yours is on that path or needs a hand.
Sometimes a habit. Sometimes a heel cord grown too tight to let the foot down. The two are treated very differently.
Aching heels or legs in an active kid, often right where a growth plate is still open. Common, miserable, and quick to settle once it’s named and managed.
The two things that send children limping into the office more than anything else. Both handled gently, usually in one visit.
A growth plate is the softest link in a young athlete’s foot, so what would be an ordinary sprain in an adult can be a fracture at twelve. We image it rather than guess, we treat the overuse injuries that build up quietly across a season, and we tell you honestly when it is safe to go back on the field.
Heavy or forceful steps can be a habit, a sensory behavior, or a child’s way of responding to discomfort. We look at what’s behind it, from foot mechanics to pain, and figure out whether anything needs attention.
For patients who have difficulty traveling to the office, podiatry can be brought directly to the home. A home visit lets Dr. Davidson evaluate the feet in the patient’s everyday environment and provide care without the stress of getting to a clinic.
Depending on the need, home-based care may include nail trimming and treatment of thickened or problematic nails, and assessment of corns, calluses, skin changes, and foot pain. We also check for signs of pressure, irritation, or circulation concerns that may need more attention.
Visits can include practical foot-care guidance and, when appropriate, gentle hands-on techniques for comfort and mobility. The goal is straightforward: keep patients comfortable, mobile, and on their feet, while catching problems before they grow.
The feet are seen where they live and work, shoes and floors and all.
Trimming, thickened nails, corns, calluses, and the skin changes that ride along with them.
Checks for pressure, irritation, and circulation, so small concerns get named early.
Hands-on techniques and plain guidance to keep you moving and on your feet.
Mona Lisa Podiatry works with a network of trusted healthcare partners to provide more connected care for our patients.
Dr. Davidson provides podiatric care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and practices, including occupational therapy providers, helping patients address foot and lower-extremity concerns as part of a broader approach to mobility, function, and everyday well-being.
We believe good care rarely happens in isolation. When another perspective or specialty can help a patient move, heal, or feel better, we work together to make sure they have access to the right care.

Dr. Leo Davidson didn't set out to be compared to a Renaissance master. The nickname found him. After enough patients told him he treated their feet like fine art...studying the whole picture, working with a steady hand, refusing to rush a result...the comparison stuck, and Mona Lisa Podiatry was born.
He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and completed a three-year surgical residency before planting roots in New Jersey. He's board-qualified, a dedicated pediatric specialist, and known for two things in equal measure: the precision of his work, and the time he takes to explain it.
His philosophy is simple. A foot is not a problem to solve on an assembly line. Treat it with the attention it deserves, and it'll carry you for a lifetime.
Close looking. Steady hands. No shortcuts.
I'd limped through three other offices before I found Dr. Davidson. He was the first one who actually watched me walk. Six weeks later I ran my first 5K in years.
The things new patients ask most, answered plainly.
Usually not. Most plans let you book a podiatrist directly. If yours happens to need a referral, we'll help you sort it out before your visit.
We work with most major plans. Bring your card and we'll verify your coverage before anything happens, so there are no surprises.
Almost never. We start with the least invasive thing that actually works. Surgery is a tool, not a reflex, and we'll always talk you through every option first.
Typically about two to three weeks from casting to fitting. They're made for your feet specifically, so we don't rush them.
No. The first visit is mostly listening, looking, and a gentle exam. We won't do anything uncomfortable without walking you through it first.
We have two New Jersey offices: 2517 Hwy 35, Suite M103 in Manasquan, and 335 US Hwy 9 in Manalapan. Both have free parking on site. Either number, 732-500-3727 or 732-749-8100, reaches both offices.
Tell us what you need and we'll get right back to you. For appointments, a quick call is the fastest way in.
